The Program Coordinator maintains regular contact with mentor pairs.  Mentors receive new-mentor training, opportunities to attend ongoing education trainings throughout the year, and regular check-ins. Mentees are able to check in with the Coordinator at the school and at group activities. Monthly newsletters are sent out to Mentors with suggestions for activities and information to help support the mentoring relationship. The Program Coordinator is available to mentors, mentees, and families anytime, for support and assistance.

​Cabot Mentoring seeks to strengthen the Cabot community with intergenerational friendships. We provide opportunities for adults to share their passions and connect with the younger generations, and opportunities for youth to expand their interests, practice relationship skills, and have a trusted friend from an older generation. All Cabot youths are eligible for the program. Our goal is to provide mentors for all Cabot youths who want one.
 

HOW it works

School-based Mentoring

Mentors and mentees meet weekly for 45-60 minutes at Cabot school during the school day, following the school calendar. Activities might include sharing lunch, going for walks, reading, art, games, or playground time.

Community-Based Mentoring

Mentor and mentees meet for a minimum of 4 hours per month, year-round, for fun, free/low cost activities. Activities are chosen by the mentee and mentor, might include hiking, biking, playing games, sharing books, art projects, fishing, or cooking. There are group activities throughout the year which provide an opportunity to get together with other Cabot Mentoring pairs.

BECOMING A MENTEE
Mentees may request a mentor, or be referred by a parent, guardian, teacher, or guidance counselor. Public, private, and home schoolers all welcome, and encouraged to apply!  APPLY ONLINE

Becoming a Mentor

Potential mentors submit an application, including consent to extensive background checks. They are interviewed to gauge interests and personality. Once the interview and background checks are completed, applicants attend new-mentor training. New mentors are matched with a child based on similar interests, and personalities.
